Xavier Becerra is walking a fine line on Gavin Newsom’s homelessness record. After giving the governor an ‘A for effort’ at a San Francisco debate last week — a comment that drew swift backlash — Becerra softened his stance during last night’s Southern California debate. Becerra said that instead he was grading the Governor's overall record and not making a comment on homelessness.
