CARTEL DRONES DOWNED: FAA Locks Down El Paso Skies—Then Lifts the Freeze

View descriptionShare

The FAA stunned travelers when it abruptly shut down the airspace over El Paso, Texas, citing “special security reasons” and announcing a 10‑day halt to all flights. Hours later, the agency reversed course, declaring there was no threat to commercial aviation and reopening the skies. Mexican cartel‑operated drones were reportedly disabled after breaching U.S. airspace, prompting the FAA to temporarily close the skies over El Paso as a security precaution before reopening them once officials confirmed the threat had been neutralized.
