In CNN’s only California governor’s debate, Steve Hilton argued the state needs dramatic change, focusing on taxes, affordability, homelessness and housing. Xavier Becerra repeatedly cast Steve Hilton as a stand-in for President Trump, invoking Trump’s name throughout the hour. In many ways, Trump became the debate’s unofficial third candidate.
