In a gripping conversation, the speaker delves into the incredible true story of Major Pierre Pete Ortiz, a decorated Marine who carried out daring missions behind enemy lines during World War II. Ortiz's bravery and cunning earned him the nickname "Das Phantom," and a 500,000-franc bounty on his head.

This book explores the fascinating world of espionage and counter-intelligence, where the lines between fact and fiction blur. The speaker's conversation with co-author Bob Drury reveals the untold story of Ortiz's adventures, from his early days as a Marine to his work with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the precursor to the CIA. With a keen eye for detail, Drury shares the remarkable story of how Ortiz's skills and bravery made him a valuable asset to the war effort.

Ortiz's story is a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of those who served in World War II. His experiences, which sound like something out of a Hollywood movie, are a reminder of the incredible feats accomplished by ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. The speaker's conversation with Drury sheds light on the lesser-known aspects of the war and the men who fought it.
