Bringing dogs into the workplace is becoming an increasingly popular perk, touted for boosting staff morale, lowering stress, and helping with pet separation anxiety. However, transitioning an office into a dog-friendly environment requires careful planning from both an employer and a pet owner's perspective. In this episode, we sit down with local veterinarian Dr Andrew Cornwell from the Cardiff and Cameron Park veterinary hospitals to break down what it takes to get office pet policies right.

The Vet’s Perspective on Stress: Why busy office environments, sudden noises, and constant strangers can overstimulate and stress dogs that aren't naturally suited to corporate spaces.

Separation vs. Attachment: How bringing a dog to work every day can sometimes backfire, worsening dependency or anxiety when they are eventually left home alone.

Office Suitability: Recognizing that not every dog is an "office dog"—temperament, age, socialization, and noise tolerance dictate whether a pet thrives.

Workplace Health & Safety: The vital protocols needed for up-to-date vaccinations, parasite control, toilet training rules, and hygiene boundaries.

Creating Safe Spaces: Why every office dog needs a designated "safe zone" or crate to retreat to when they feel overwhelmed.
