Exploring Space: Comets and the Building Blocks of Life

Petrol prices are soaring past $3 per litre in parts of NSW, leaving commuters feeling the pinch. With diesel even higher, Australians are paying up to $70 more per tank since the Middle East conflict began. The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) is calling on the NSW Government to cut or scrap public transport fares to ease the burden, while the government insists current prices are “already fair.”

Brent speaks with Toby Warnes, RTBU NSW Secretary, about the potential savings for commuters, whether cheaper or free public transport could reduce traffic and emissions, and if such a plan is practical. We also explore examples from other states, like Queensland’s 50-cent fare trial, and discuss whether this could be a short-term relief or a longer-term solution for NSW households.
