8CCC Brekky caught up with Mparntwe Alice Springs Mayor Asta Hill, to talk through the main topics of the October Town Council meeting. Regarding the Todd Mall traders' concerns, there was an update on the staged development for the remainder of the year, the current surplus with MyTodd Mall vouchers and the progress with the Renew Australia project. Council passed the motion by Cr Newport, on the back of the Summer Ready forum hosted by ALEC where public access to drinking water was identified as a high priority for summer preparation, including a campaign to encourage businesses to offer cool water to the public. The figures for the storm debris so far taken at the Tip were provided, as well as celebrating the awards from the NT Chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) for Newland Park Regional Skate and Play Precinct and the Alice Springs Greening Strategy.

Finally, we asked about a recent Centralian Today article regarding the Masters Games, which was published without any comment from the Mayor, and she shared with us a clear and full account.

Next Alice Springs Town Council meeting is on Tuesday 24 November 2026 at 5pm.
