Barkly Regional Council CEO, Peter Harder, joined Brian on the Big Brekky show to discuss all the big issues surrounding the region.

Mr Harder outlined his role and what he is focussing on as the leader of the council.

"I'm privileged to be part of the operation team, and I work closely with the elected members. I put some tough decisions in front of them and they are stepping up to turn our finances around, and deliver the Barkly Council that our residents want."

Jobs, education and infrastructure were all areas of importance that Mr Harder and the council have been emphasising.

Emerging Yolŋu singer-songwriter MAGGIE joined Baini on the Big Brekky show to discuss her new single Blue Sky.

During the chat, it is evident that MAGGIE's joy for her music is infectious to anyone who follows her work. She believes people listening to her songs deserve to feel uplifted by positivity and kindness, even if they can't see the blue skies ahead of them.

"I love sharing positive messages, and that's what the world deserves. They deserve happiness, kindness, love. And the more we give them that, it uplifts you as well... They inspire you."

MAGGIE On Her New Single 'Blue Sky'

Claire Kilgariff and Adrian Walter from Arafura Music Collective joined Baini on the 8CCC Big Brekky show this morning for a live performance and discussion about the upcoming performances this weekend titled The Lovers: Music as the Heart of the Community

The Lovers is a celebration of love in all its forms: romantic love, friendship, family, community and our shared humanity. The program features music by J.S. Bach, Tchaikovsky, Elena Kats-Chernin, Peggy Polias and Northern Territory composer Annette Anderson. Moving between intimate chamber works and larger ensemble performances, the concert explores how music can connect us to one another and strengthen the bonds of community. Warm, uplifting and deeply human, the program reflects Arafura's belief that music is truly the heart of the community.

Playing the guitar, Adrian performed the intro and outro for the piece Le Avventure di Amore (The Adventures of Love), a charming and expressive work by nineteenth-century Italian guitar virtuoso Mauro Giuliani.

Catch Arafura Music Collective on Saturday 7th November at Grey Community Hall, Palmerston, and on Sunday 8th November at the Supreme Court, Darwin. Tickets available here.
