Breaking Brett Jensen is joined in studio by Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden. McFadden begins the interview by addressing the proposed $400,000 consulting contract presented by former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board Chair Stephanie Sneed, Raki McGregor and former CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings to the Sheriff’s Office. He also addresses overcrowding at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Uptown Charlotte and the recent reopening of Jail North.
Later, McFadden addresses the staffing situation at Jail North. He details how many additional staff members would be needed to adequately operate both of the county’s jail facilities. He also discusses the possibility of housing juveniles and federal inmates at the Jail North facility.
