Breaking Brett Jensen kicks off the show by discussing the proposed toll lanes project on Interstate 77 South. He explains that a transit committee is considering plans to add toll lanes running from Uptown Charlotte near the John Belk Freeway to the South Carolina state line at Carowinds Boulevard. He notes that a town hall hosted the previous night by Charlotte City Councilman Malcolm Graham took an unexpected turn when community members voiced strong opposition to the project.

Jensen then speaks with Charlotte City Councilman Ed Driggs, who attended the event and witnessed the chaos that erupted. Driggs says that both he and Graham were surprised by the intensity and anger of the crowd. He adds that while officials were aware of concerns, the emotional response went far beyond expectations.
