Breaking Brett Jensen kicks off the show by talking about the 2024 elections in Mecklenburg County and how they are officially over with the last of the provisional ballots being counted today. Tricia Cotham started the day up by 215 votes with 214 provisional votes left to be counted, 73 of the votes were counted today before Cotham was officially elected to the North Carolina House for the 105th District. Representative Cotham was public enemy no. 1 for the Democratic party, who spent millions of dollars on attack ads and support for her opponent, going so far as to have celebrities and even the VP Tim Wallz.
Later, Brett shares Sheriff Garry McFadden's apology for the video that has been blowing up recently showing Sheriff McFadden using racist slurs. Although the audio is over two years old, a recent republishing has sparked a new interest that has Sheriff McFadden's feet to the fire. In his apology video, he takes full responsibility for his actions and accepts that as Sheriff he is held to a higher standard. Sheriff McFadden claims that he remains committed to the work of the Sheriff, protecting the people of Mecklenburg county and the residents within the jail.
