The A-League Men’s hotly-contested regular season came up trumps for Adelaide United, who enter Saturday’s first leg semi-final against Auckland rested and full of optimism. First year manager Airton Andrioli has waited a long time for an opportunity at the level, and has a chance to make it all worth it over the next three weeks.
Then to England, where The Athletic’s Gregg Evans was at Old Trafford as Manchester United beat Liverpool to seal a Champions League return. Spurs also took a step away from relegation, while there’s also a European trophy still up for grabs at the club Evans knows better than any, Aston Villa.
