When he was only eight months old, Ryder was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and had to undergo ten months of intense treatment, including blood and platelet transfusions. At the age of two, Ryder relapsed and had to endure additional rounds of treatment, blood and platelet transfusions, and ultimately a bone marrow transplant which saved his life. Thanks to the generosity of blood donors, recipients like Ryder is a happy healthy boys who loves sports.
