Pet of the week

Vanessa Murphy and Emily Harris Executive Director - Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes talk about this week's Bounce Pet of the Week "Sunny" and the need for donations to help another cat named Dobby and his sad story. 

Sunny, with his vibrant orange tabby coat and captivating personality, embodies the essence of a playful and loving cat. His age of 4 ½ places him in the prime of his life, where he combines youthful energy with charming maturity.  Since joining us in Aug, he has seamlessly integrated into the shelter life.  Sunny is always chatting with us through a variety of meows and purrs, expressing his desires for interaction and companionship.

Sunny has kidney stones. This condition, while requiring some adjustments to his lifestyle, does not diminish his ability to enjoy life. With proper management, including a tailored diet to keep the kidney stones from getting larger and regular check-ups to monitor his health, he can thrive in a loving environment.

Dobby – raising money for FHO surgery

12-week-old kitten who came to us after a good Samaritan found him as a stray. Was immediately taken to the vet and radiographs indicated he has a fractured hip. He will receive surgery to fix this and with some TLC he should live a long happy life.

Meet Sunny - This week's Bounce Pet of the Week October 16th

Vanessa Murphy along with Hayley Hodges (Client and Family Experience Lead) and Bill Eekhof (Communications Coordinator) from 5 Counties Children's Centre ALL-O-WEEN at 5 Counties Children's Centre for their families PLUS tips on how you can host an inclusive Halloween experience for everyone! Hayley shares her own experiences as well.

Five Counties Children’s Centre wants to make trick-or-treating more accessible and less scary for kids. That’s why the Centre is inviting local families to attend its first-ever All-o-ween event.

All-o-ween is designed as an accessible, inclusive and sensory-friendly trick-or-treating experience for Five Counties kids and their families — both those currently receiving treatment at the Centre or who are on a wait list for services.

All-o-ween will run at the Five Counties site (9 Russell St. E.) in Lindsay on Wednesday Oct. 30, from 4-6 pm. The Centre is also offering All-o-ween at its sites in Peterborough (872 Dutton Road) on Oct. 28 and in Cobourg (800 Division St., Unit 2) on Oct. 29.

To attend All-o-ween, pre-registration is required. Families can call the Centre at 1-888-779-9916, ext. 215 or visit www.fivecounties.on.ca/alloween to save a spot. Siblings of Five Counties kids are welcome to join the fun as well.
