Make sure to tune in tomorrow to Boerne Radio as we will have the FOOTBALL GAME OF THE YEAR for Boerne ISD - Champion travels east to Smithson Valley High School. Just some trivia… while Smithson Valley has three-straight state title appearances and two-straight title wins, the last time they actually lost a game was September 4, 2025 when they played Brennan. Champion is off to their best season since 2010 when they also started 7-0. It can be done… The champion could defeat the Rangers, but it will take a lot. 5pm tomorrow gets us started for Fired Up Friday, and then pregame at 6:30. The Greyhounds take on Vets Memorial in their homecoming game… which will air in its entirety on Texas Sports Productions.

Champion boys water polo will also play a big game tomorrow at 1:30. Against Clear Creek in San Antonio, they play in the state semifinals. If they win, they’ll play for a state title Saturday.

Making headlines across the state in the UIL - their fall meeting took place Monday. Three big things were discussed and passed. In all sports starting in 2027, every high seed will have home field or court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Also on the docket, starting in 2028, a 35-second shot clock will be implemented for boys and girls basketball. Finally, girls flag football will be piloted in 2028. These are three big moves in advancing the sports formats and selections for Texas high schools. More info to come as we inch closer to those timelines.
