As heard on Boerne Radio Saturday… both baseball series go the distance to 3 games and both in Buda, Texas with different results. The first game 3 was between Boerne and Cedar Park as the Greyhounds forced a deciding game in game 2. Their season would end after Cedar Park jumped out early, and ended in a final of 5-2. Champion played Hays, who managed to defeat the district champs in game 2 to force game 3. A narrow win for the Chargers, but they get it, 2-1. Next up is Southwest Legacy, with all 3 potential games being played in San Antonio at Northside, Thursday through Saturday. 

The state qualifiers for track and field also took place. Champion’s Julia Syroney won a gold medal in the 200m, and a silver in the 100 to qualify for state. The Champion boys 4x200 won gold as well to qualify for state. The Boerne Star has a list of all the placements by Greyhound and Champion competitors from this weekend.

And Geneva golf also qualified for their state tournament in Waco after their dominant performance at regionals. It takes place today and tomorrow- get it done, Eagles!

The Spurs begin their 2nd round series against Minnesota tonight at the Frost Bank Center. While reports have been correct about injuries to some of Minnesota’s stars, Anthony Edwards on Sunday was upgraded in the injury list from “out” to “questionable.” Something to keep an eye on. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 and will be streamed only on Peacock or on cable channel NBCSN.

It’s Monday May 4th. 

 

And a lot of War related events happened on this date.

In 1776 Rhode Island declared its independence from Great Britain in the context of the American Revolution.

In 1865 the last major Confederate Army surrendered in Alabama

But the biggest war time event happened a much longer time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

”May the 4th” be with you…It’s Star Wars Day. 

 

We also celebrate some Boerne birthdays!

Happy Birthday to our singer songwriter Noah Kurtis Nilsson , Larry Bernhard, Kathleen Alamillo, Hair and Scalp Care Expert Tammy Jordan, Barron Blevins, and Ron Zunker with the Pax Financial Group!  Happy Birthday to you guys on this May the 4th!

Saturday was election day and the results are in…in Fair Oaks Ranch two council seats were on the ballot.  Keith Rhoden ran unopposed for Place 2, while incumbent Johnathan Swarek earned 57% of the vote over Matt Reigelsperger for Place 6.  Here in Boerne in the school board races, Incumbent Kristi Schmidt ran unopposed for Place 6 and still received 3,055 votes, and Rich Sena was reelected to Place 7 with 62% of the vote - 2,415 votes for the incumbent over Michael Ethridge’s 1,452 votes.

These results remain unofficial until the election is finalized by the county and canvassed by the school district next Monday. 

 

And some more results to report, according to the Raindrop app last week Boerne saw a little over 8/10s of an inch of rain in the last week of April and over an inch on May 1st  - for the year Boerne has seen 9.37” which is near the average.

National Day of Prayer is this Thursday and here in Boerne the day will start with the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast at Las Guitarras on Main Street with the blowing of the Shofar, worship led by Cross Mountain Church, a message from Mayor Frank Ritchie, with prayers from local pastors.  Then at 11:45 in Main Plaza First Baptist Church will lead in praise and worship, Senator Donna Campbell will read the Governors Proclamation, Commissioner Andra Wisian will pray for the county, Sheriff Al Auxier will pray for First Responders, with more local leaders and teachers praying for our churches, non-profits, our kids, and our businesses.  They are even letting yours truely pray over the media…and that includes you clowns on social media…

Lord I apologies for calling them clowns…

And the flood watch that started last night - issued by the National Weather Service continues through this evening.  The rain should clear up in time for the first pitch after 6.  

 

Camp Mystic will remain closed for the summer of 2026 after withdrawing its operating license application. Camp leaders say the decision comes as families continue grieving and multiple investigations remain ongoing following last year’s deadly Fourth of July flooding. State officials, including Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, supported the move. The camp says it will continue cooperating with investigations as lawmakers and families seek answers about the tragedy that claimed so many young lives. 

 

This week the Kendall County Commissioners' Court recognized Kendall County Sheriff Deputy Flores for 5 years of dedicated service.
