It’s Monday June 8th.

And it was on this date in 1776 that a 2,000-pound copper-and-tin bell rang out from the tower of the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia, calling citizens to gather for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

That building became Independence Hall, and of course that bell is the “Liberty Bell”.

Bonnie Tyler turns 75 today, Nancy Sinatra is 86, and Sturgill Simpson is 48.

Also happy birthday to some great Boerne Radio listeners like Jennifer Kramer, Von Harenberg over at Hill Country Waste Solutions, and Megan Earl who is on Team Boerne Radio and the Bofars Media Group.

Gas prices in Boerne dropped again with most stations hovering around $3.38 compared to an average of $3.73 last week.  The Boerne HEB has the lowest right now at $3.37.  On the higher end according to GasBuddy.com the Shell’s on Blanco and Main both are sitting around $3.80.   And heads up, if you can wait to fill up on Thursday, your neighborhood Circle K is doing their next gas day promotion through their app where you get a $.40 a gallon discount.

The Boerne Star reported that Boerne ISD has been named a 2025-26 Texas Way District of Distinction for its commitment to sportsmanship and character development. The statewide honor recognizes schools that promote integrity, respect, leadership, and community involvement through athletics and student activities. District leaders say the award reflects the efforts of students, coaches, families, and staff who help create a positive culture both on and off the field.

It is the 2nd week of the month so that means it’s Bulky Item and brush collection week - your trash day is the day to put out the big stuff too big for the can.  If its brush make sure it’s chopped and tied up.

And it’s time to register for Boerne Radio’s Father’s Day Contest and we have 2 going on now.  One is the Boerne Radio / Das Festival Father of the Year - nominate your favorite man and the prize there is he gets to ride in the parade.  And the other is our traditional Father’s Day contest presented by Champion Home Services with 6 big prizes this year.
