Headlines: BLL advances, will play in Regional / TEX ahead of HOU at All-Star Break / Two former Greyhounds get drafted in MLB

And the only thing now standing Boerne Little League is a trip to Waco. Boerne Little League won the Abilene Tournament, and will now be playing in the Southwest Region Tournament to punch their ticket to Williamsport. It is a double elimination format and they’ll be playing as “Texas West.” In the first game, they play… you guessed it, Texas East. This will all get going August 6. 

Now with this pageantry and privilege of playing in a big tournament of course comes the responsibility part- parents are taking on hotels, food, and other travel expenses out of pocket so their boys can play baseball. We have a video posted on our Facebook page with Chris Carey, President of Boerne Little League, explaining it all. It also has a QR code where you can donate. 

From the Little League to the Big Leagues now- to begin, Houston and Texas faced each other right before the All-Star Break begins today. Texas won 2 of the 3 and took control of the AL West, with Houston in 3rd. 

But with the break comes the MLB Draft- and two former Greyhounds were selected by ball clubs. Rashawn Galloway was selected by the Astros, and Cam Johnson by the Royals. Speaking of Cam, he sat down with Kerry Barboza of the Boerne Star in the latest edition of The Boerne Brew. You can hear that on demand at BoerneRadio.com. 

Well, a lot to be said about baseball here in the Hill Country. I’d say today’s report was a home run.
