Headlines: UTSA and UT Austin in same baseball super regional! / Trinity Baseball looks to make history / Missions start 6-game stretch with Arkansas / Rangers and Astros busy with new week
Tuesday 5/27
This is Boerne Radio Sports… I am Esteban Serrano. Let’s talk nothing but baseball this Tuesday.
Great news for Roadrunner baseball fans… the runners will be playing in the super regional for the NCAA World Series… They were atop the American Athletic Conference with a 23-4 conference record. Conference counterpart East Carolina is in it as well, as they won the conference championship knocking off UTSA. The Roadrunners drew the regional where?- Austin. How fitting, I know… The region is made up of UT and Houston Christian who have the 1 vs 4 matchup, and Kansas St. and UTSA will play the 3 vs 2 match. It is double elimination, and the winner of the region will punch their ticket to play in Omaha. The game will occur Friday at 6 from Austin. The Longhorns and Houston Christian will play before them at 1.
As for the Trinity Tigers in DIII, they will be a part of an 8-team field looking to win that World Series in Eastlake, Ohio this weekend. Their important round 1 game will be against Wisconsin-Whitewater at 7 on Friday.
The San Antonio Missions, third in the Texas League South at 24-21, start a series with the best team in the North- Arkansas, tonight which will run through Sunday. Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:35. The Rangers started a 3-game series with Toronto yesterday in Arlington, in which they lost 2-1. The series continues tonight at 7:00. The Astros had Memorial Day off as they now compete with the A’s in Houston today and tomorrow. First pitch for that game is at 7:10.
