Alright, well we’ve officially hit the “dog days” of summer for Boerne sports after Champion’s playoff run came to an end… by the way, the seniors on the team graduated Friday night following the game.. Congrats to those young men, the future is bright. 

We now look ahead to football season: We are 78 days away from August 12 when the teams are expected to report for conditioning, and 94 days away from August 28, which is the opening date of week 1 of the 2025 season. 

The 26-5A all-district selections were released for Champion softball… Academic all-district had Hannah Perex, Torin Tucker, Anna Hurst, Ally Candler, Reese Rogers, Mylie Parker, Breah Lazzaro, Abby Brehmer, Bella Mamadaliyev, and Lilly Ritchie make the list. Honorable mentions went to Ritchie and Hurst, while 2nd-team had Brehmer and Perez. On the 1st-Team all district list were Parker and Tucker… well-deserved by all listed. 

Kate Friesenhahn of Geneva soccer was named to the Express News All-Area team over the weekend… The senior, now graduate, on top of having a wonderful career as an athlete at Geneva also won other awards, such as the TAPPS 4A Female Athlete of the Year Award in 2024. 

The UT Longhorn softball team is headed to their world series after beating Clemson in the super regional round over the weekend… and how about the Trinity Tigers, also home of Charger baseball alum Evan Kuhl… he is on the team headed to the NCAA DIII World Series this upcoming week. They beat East Texas Baptist to secure their super regional.
