Headlines: Game 2 Of The Champion Chargers

This is Boerne Radio Sports - I am Baron Wiley…

And as heard on Boerne Radio - Game 2 of the Champion Chargers in a do or die against Liberty Hill who took Game 1 with story book ending - bases loaded, bottom of the 9th - full county - they drive in a run and win 1-0.  Last night different story…in the first inning Liberty scores 3, but so does Champion.  Later Liberty Hill goes on a nice run and we start the final inning in the 7th with Liberty Hill leading 9-5…and Champion is last at bat…

Liberty Hill walks Pierce Kelley - Charger Owen Kuhl walks up - and we take to TSP’s and Boerne Radio’s Esteban  Serrano with the call.

Okay so now it’s 9-6 -  Cal Isley walks up and gets walked, man on 1st and 3rd down by 3. And no outs.  Jaedyn Yamaguchi hits a deep sacrifice fly ball - Kuhl runs in, Isley on 2nd and now it’s 9-7 with 1 out with Garland Whitehead up to bat.

Then  Whitehead steals 2nd with 1 out - the tying run there - the winning run at bat…

Yes Liberty Hill walks - tying run on 2nd - winning run on first…with Sawyer Smith up to bat - but he flies out to center field - the runners stay…and then Sam Miller steps up to bat with 2 outs - and finds himself with the weight of the world on his shoulders –

Everyone’s heart is racing, bottom of the 7th -  2 outs - two men in scoring position - its’ 2 and 2 - and back to Estaban with the call…

And the epic comeback was right there but not meant to be - Liberty Hill advances with that 9-8 win…and 10 Seniors ended their baseball career at Champion High School who had to run home, shower and graduate last night in Boerne ISD Stadium  - what a run…and here’s some hope for next year..5 juniors and 7 sophomores will return next year.
