Headlines: Liberty Hill takes 1-0 series lead following two 9th-inning errors by Chargers

As heard here on Boerne Radio… from Concordia University it was game 1 and a huge game one. It’s the regional final for 5A, Champion vs Liberty Hill from Austin… and through the first 4 innings, we are scoreless and I’m sure everyone was thinking, “man this is just a good defensive game…” well the pitching was on point as well. Sawyer Smith was on a roll leaving Panther runners stranded and he even had 4 strikeouts in the game. Though regulation, the game is still knotted at 0, so we need to play extra innings. The 8th inning was the inning the Liberty Hill pitcher was taken out and replaced, but this right-hander could throw. Champion players were striking out and Aiden Smith comes on to pitch in the 9th. Now, Liberty Hill had the home field so they get to bat last… 8 and a half and no one can find a run. However, this would be the inning for the Panthers… they got the bases loaded off a costly error at 2nd base… confusion by the Champion defense, and then this happened… a swing and a one-hopper fielded and the throw home is dropped, with the bases juiced, the winning run crosses from 90 feet away… good night, drive home safely… Liberty Hill takes game 1, by a score of 1-0. 

The scenario for today is a 1pm first pitch from Northeast sports park. Champion’s season is on the line as AJ Grizzafi is the projected starting pitcher for Champion. Can the Chargers make this a series?
