This is Boerne Radio Sports…
It’s June and that means next week high school sports will officially be done for the year and we look to welcome the dawn of the 2025-2026 seasons. Going out on top as a now graduated Greyhound is one talented softball player by the name of Ava Renteria. The First-Team All-District Select took her skills to the Austin Area All Star Game at Dripping Springs high school where she represented the south team and won 14-5. Ava is headed to San Marcos to play softball at Texas State in the fall.
And we know this already- Boerne has some of the most humble, respectful, and even honest sports athletes, coaches, and fans in Texas and it’s a proven fact. Every single game is competitive but never frowned upon- there are both humble wins and humble losses in every sport. You all were recently recognized by being given the distinction of being a Texas Way District of Distinction… It is a symbol of “decreasing ejections at UIL events” and attempts to improve relationships between the coaches, athletes, fans, and the officials.
Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series finals… a competitive game to say the least. More pitching and defense took over the game… controversial calls and challenges including “umpire interference.” I don’t know what that was about. Anyways, the game ended because Texas had the go-ahead run off a hit to left field that was designed to walk the batter. And Texas Tech couldn’t recover. The Longhorns win 2-1, UT leads the series lead 1-0 heading into game 2 tonight.
