Three more Geneva selections for First-Team Honors were released on Saturday after a great baseball season- we have their names listed on our sports blog at BoerneRadio.com… head over and find the ‘news sports’ tab and find today’s report- you can also do that each and everyday, Monday-Saturday and hear the report those days here on 103.9FM. 

Geneva 1st-Team Selections:

Chase Doran - First Team All-District, Honorable Mention All-State

Robert Jons - 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-District

Brady Chandler - 1st Team All-District, 2nd-Team All-State, Academic All-State

Brooks Perez, now Greyhound alum, will be representing at the THSBCA All-Star Baseball game in Round Rock on Sunday the 15th… He was the only player of both Boerne ISD high schools selected. He also batted an impressive .519 this year. We will be rooting for him in that game… by the way, he’ll be playing baseball at the University of Houston next spring.

Alright so Saturday, the UTSA Roadrunners go into the game against UT with a 1-0 advantage in the regional, and so did UT for that matter. In this game, the Roadrunners were trailing 6-1 at one point, long story short, they came back and won 9-7. So, the Roadrunners are 2-0 with a nice long 24 hours to prepare for the winner of UT and Kansas St. from Sunday morning. And in that game, UT absolutely punished the Wildcats 15-8. So Sunday night, the rematch between UT and UTSA… the I-35 big Brother-little Brother series. Minded UTSA had beat these Longhorns earlier in the regular season, and they would do it for a 3rd time, clinching the region, 7-4 the final.

So what’s next? The super regional round for UTSA. They will be heading to California this week to either face UCLA or UC Irvine. At the time this report was published, UCLA, the 15th seed, was up 8-2 in that game. For UT, they are the now 2nd-highest seed to be knocked out in the regional round as #1-overall Vanderbilt was eliminated by Wright St. This is UTSA’s first regional victory in program history.
