We start off today’s report by sending a belated happy birthday to Mr. Stan Leech, Athletic Director for BISD who is constantly at work to assure his student-athletes are recognized. He is coming up on 40 years with the district. 

We have results from the Tom Dugosh Bowling League as of June 10- the BTV Aces are leading with a record of 119-57. Jason Schmidt has both the high game and high series of the week- for game, he bowled a 260 and for the series, a 688. 

Major League Baseball scores- now the Texas Rangers fall 2 games below .500 after losing again to Kansas City 6-3 Wednesday Night. The Astros… well they just continue to improve. They beat the A’s… I’ll just say pretty dominantly.

That is when the amount of sunshine is approximately 12 hours long.

If traffic and transportation is a hot topic and concern for you here in Boerne, The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting 5 public meetings looking for advice and feedback on how to spend 1.9 billion dollars in transportation projects.  One is at New Braunfels City Hall tonight, 2 in San Antonio, then Seguin, and on Monday they will be in Boerne at the Patrick Heath Public Library starting at 5:30.  There you can learn about and comment on the draft 2027 to 2030 Transportation Improvement Program, which outlines projects set for funding and construction. Officials say it’s a chance to see what’s coming to our community, ask questions, and provide feedback before the plan is finalized.  In fact there’s a traffic survey they’d like you to take to identify your concerns and ideas and we have that link in the news blog at Boerne Radio.com.

And last night was the first of the Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy, which is a 12-week program from the Police Departments of Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne, as well as the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. The class boasted the largest turnout in 8 years.  They will be holding the class every Wednesday until the first week of June.

The Kendall County Fire Department is hiring!  They are looking for dedicated individuals ready to serve their community with pride, discipline, and teamwork. There is one firefighter position open, and you will need TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter training and DSHS EMT Basic training. This position responds out of the Comfort VFD station and supports all-hazards response, including fires, medical calls, vehicle accidents, floods, and natural disasters. 

 

Last week, Judge Stolarczyk rode along with Meals on Wheels driver Barbara to observe first hand the impact that the Meals on Wheels program has on our community. Each week they provide 1000s of meals within the community, specifically for the elderly population within the county. He is the first of hopefully many officials riding along to help out the program.
