This is Boerne Radio Sports… 

The Greyhounds will be taking part in the TABC basketball showcase this weekend and game times were announced… They will play Rockwell Friday at noon, then Cypress Springs at 5:25, and on Saturday at 9, they will play Bridgeland. The games will take place at Duncanville and Mansfield. 

It was on this day in 1967 at the good ol’ Astrodome in Houston that Don Wilson threw a no-hitter on the Atlanta Braves in which the Astros won that game 2-0. The franchise as a whole to this day in 2025 have 17 no-hitters total. And last night, Houston took care of business 13-3 over the A’s. Good news for them also is that the Rangers lost to a team who has a losing streak- Kansas City, 6-1.

That is when the amount of sunshine is approximately 12 hours long.

Spring officially starts at 9:46 tomorrow morning.

If traffic and transportation is a hot topic and concern for you here in Boerne, The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting 5 public meetings looking for advice and feedback on how to spend 1.9 billion dollars in transportation projects.  One is at New Braunfels City Hall tonight, 2 in San Antonio, then Seguin, and on Monday they will be in Boerne at the Patrick Heath Public Library starting at 5:30.  There you can learn about and comment on the draft 2027 to 2030 Transportation Improvement Program, which outlines projects set for funding and construction. Officials say it’s a chance to see what’s coming to our community, ask questions, and provide feedback before the plan is finalized.  In fact there’s a traffic survey they’d like you to take to identify your concerns and ideas and we have that link in the news blog at Boerne Radio.com.

And last night was the first of the Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy, which is a 12-week program from the Police Departments of Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne, as well as the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. The class boasted the largest turnout in 8 years.  They will be holding the class every Wednesday until the first week of June.

The Kendall County Fire Department is hiring!  They are looking for dedicated individuals ready to serve their community with pride, discipline, and teamwork. There is one firefighter position open, and you will need TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter training and DSHS EMT Basic training. This position responds out of the Comfort VFD station and supports all-hazards response, including fires, medical calls, vehicle accidents, floods, and natural disasters. 

 

Last week, Judge Stolarczyk rode along with Meals on Wheels driver Barbara to observe first hand the impact that the Meals on Wheels program has on our community. Each week they provide 1000s of meals within the community, specifically for the elderly population within the county. He is the first of hopefully many officials riding along to help out the program.
