Headlines: 7 Chargers make top 50 for individual stats in ranking / 53rd Hot Dog Eating Contest is today

Well the fireworks are going off for the Boerne Champion Chargers… TXHighSchoolBaseball.com has ranked their top 200 stat leaders but 7 Chargers managed to get into the top 50. Those players are Jaedyn Yamaguchi, Owen Kuhl, Garland Whitehead, Cal Isley, Aidan Smith, AJ Grizzafi, and Sawyer Smith. Owen Kuhl- 63 bases (rank: 10th), 43 H (rank: 18th), 37 R (rank: 21th)

Garland Whitehead- 38 R (rank: 14th), 5 triples (rank: 18th) 39 H (rank: 49th)

Cal Isley- 37 R (rank: 21th), 19 stolen bases (rank: 46th)

Aidan Smith- 38 RBI (rank: 13th)

AJ Grizzafi- 7 walks (rank: 46th), 74 K's (rank: 48th)

Sawyer Smith- 8 walks (rank: 27th)

And who wants a hot dog? The 53rd annual Hot Dog Eating Contest from Coney Island takes place - one of the most American of traditions. The storyline is Joey Chestnut, arguably the greatest of all time returning after a temporary ban due to a sponsorship last year. Minded, he holds the all-time record for 73 hot dogs in 10 minutes, and has 15 titles to his name. On the women’s side, Miki Sudo is the returning champ and has 8 titles all-time. The winners of both competitions get $10,000 a piece. The women’s event is at 9:45 this morning and the men’s at 11. I’m getting stuffed just thinking about it.
