It’s July 1st and the month is already off to a rocking start in the sports world.

FIrst, the BIG news from the Spurs Organization… On the first day of free agency, the Spurs crunch numbers and verbally agree with Chris Paul to sign him to an $11-million plus deal for 1 year, according to multiple sources. With the addition of Stephon Castle, it seems like the Spurs want some mentorship for him and Victor Wembanyama to get San Antonio (possibly) back in the win-column this upcoming year. The Spurs could also trade Paul after acquiring him for draft picks or maybe more players… In other words, the Spurs have options and there could be more All-Stars making their way to South Texas… so, the frenzy is just getting started; stay tuned ladies and gentlemen. 

Into the world of the Jim Scholssnagle controversy out of College Station- it didn’t take long for the Aggies to find their new Head Coach, let alone, take leaving their own backyard… Michael Earley, who was the pitching coach for the past 3 seasons, will take the promotion to head coach. So, yes, he was a factor in turning A&M into a dominant offense, and playing a factor in getting them to the World Series this past season.

Something happened for the Texas Rangers that hasn’t happened since 1985- a rookie hitting a cycle- Wyatt Langford, drafted in 2023, hit his first career cycle against Baltimore last night. (Meaning he hit a single, double, triple, and home run all in the same night) It is only the 11th cycle in Rangers history, and it was a big one. Texas wins, 11-2. They come back home to face San Diego starting tomorrow night.

The 42-41 Astros get over .500 with the 10-5 win against the Mets yesterday, they travel North next to visit the Blue Jays.
