Here are your headlines…

The NFL regular season concluded yesterday. We’ll get this one out of the way for all the Cowboy fans- Dallas ends with a loss, 23-19 to the Commanders who are headed to the playoffs. Now, its decision time for Mr. Jerry Jones as Mike McCarthy’s future as Head Coach remains a mystery. The Texans have locked down the AFC’s 5th seed, and will play the LA Chargers next week in the Wild Card. They defeated the Titans 23-14 on Sunday.

In Bowl Season, Texas State defeated North Texas in the First Responder Bowl, 30-28 on Friday.

In college basketball, #13-ranked A&M got a nice 80-60 win over UT Austin on Saturday. As for the Spurs, they win one and lose the next to Denver on Wemby’s birthday Saturday, 122-111. They try again tonight in Chicago at 7.

The NFL regular season concluded yesterday. We&rsquo;ll get this one out of the way for all the Cowboy fans- Dallas ends with a loss, 23-19 to the Commanders who are headed to the playoffs. Headlines:  Time to Protect The 16 P’s With the Freeze / HCFS Providing Free Coats / 1st City Council Meeting of 2025 Is Tonight

It’s Tuesday January 7th. 

And born on this date 225 years ago in the year 1800 was the 13th President of the United States - if you know who…you’re good…Millard Fillmore. He was the last member of the Whig party, Vice President under Zachary Taylor, and passed the Compromise of 1850 which froze the expansion of slavery.

The City of Boerne wants to assure you that they have this cold weather thing under control. The Streets department reportedly has enough salt for the roads in case it snows, and Boerne Utilities has taken precautions to ensure service continues. However, it is important that you protect the 16 P’s- your plants like periwinkles, poppies, and pansies, your people like postmen, pastors, and Plumbers, your Pets like Pointers, Pomeranians and Persian, and finally your Plumbing like pipes, plungers, and PVC.

Hill Country Family Services is watching the weather for Thursday to see if a warming station is necessary, and they’ll decide that day if they will come in at all following the lead of Boerne ISD but again the Patrick Heath Public Library will the hub if you need a coat…thanks to your support of Hill Country Family Services.

Headlines:District Action In Basketball /Updated Spurs Record/Ezekiel Elliott Signing

Here are today’s headlines…

A lot of district action will be going down tonight in basketball. The Greyhound boys will be at home at 6:30 to take on Wagner, and the Lady Hounds are on the road at Wagner to tip off at the exact same time. Big game between Champion and Veterans Memorial… the boys will be playing at Champion High School at 6:30, while the girls make the voyage through 1604 to play their game at 6:30 as well. Both Geneva teams are taking a little longer trip to Corpus for a battle with Incarnate Word Academy. The girls will go first at 5:30, and tip-off for the boys will start at roughly 7:30.

The Spurs even their record at .500 again, as they lose in late minutes to Chicago, 114-110. A trending problem for this young team seems to be losing the lead late… The Spurs were up by as many as 15, and Chicago never took the lead until the 4th quarter. 

Late last night, reports confirmed Ezekiel Elliott had been signed to the practice squad by the LA Chargers after Dallas cut him 2 weeks ago, all ahead of their wild card game against Houston- that game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30.

President Theodore Roosevelt passed away on this date in 1919 at the age of 60, and in 1941 that President F.D. Roosevelt gave his Four Freedoms speech during the annual State of the Union Address - that everyone in the world ought to enjoy freedom of speech and worship, as well as freedom from want and fear. 

Because of the overnight freezes this week, Boerne Parks and Rec has decided to turn off all public water fountains, and publicly maintained bathrooms have been locked up to reduce the risk of pipes freezing and bursting and prevent any damage. 

Scam alert! The Boerne Police Department has become aware of a fraudulent individual calling Boerne residents and claiming they have a warrant out for their arrest. The only way to get out of the warrant is to send them money by cash or credit card. The Boerne Police Department will never call you and ask for money, so if you receive a phone call with this threat, don’t engage, hang up, and contact the Boerne PD non emergency line at (830) 249-8645.

Another reason to call the Boerne Police Department, they are currently hiring! They are looking to fill multiple Probationary Police Officer Positions with a starting pay of over 64,000 a year, plus retirement benefits, and other perks like language pay, and every other weekend off.
