For Geneva, their football season officially begins tonight as they’re in Hallettsville to take on Sacred Heart in their first regular season game tonight at 7. For volleyball, Boerne High will be in the Abilene Tournament, facing Harlington South today at 12:30. For Comfort, they’re in Floresville for that tournament as pool play starts today.

After more than two decades serving the City of Boerne, City Secretary Lori Carroll announced her plans to retire in early 2027. She initially joined the team in January of 2003 as assistant to the City Manager, but was promoted to Secretary in 2011. During her tenure, Carroll has attended and documented hundreds of City Council meetings; maintained official City records, minutes, ordinances, and resolutions; coordinated City Council agendas and meeting packets; and ensured required public notices were properly posted. City Manager Ben Thatcher says that she has worked tirelessly over the last 23 years, and has been a key advisor to our mayors and City Council members, making her invaluable to the City of Boerne. 

 

The City of Boerne’s Code Compliance Department got a shoutout from My Boerne News for helping residents find the resources they need to make improvements to their property. One multigenerational family just west of Downtown Boerne had financial challenges due to medical bills-the family needed a new privacy fence but simply couldn’t afford it. Officer Betty Kwasneski called Hill Country Family Services, who donated money for the supplies, and got help from the United Methodist Army to build it. Boerne Parks Operations Superintendent Rusty Fuller also provided two trucks, two trailers, and a crew of three Parks and Recreation team members. On another project, the UM Army was called to help clean up a property that desperately needed organized. Kwasneski has checked in with the resident every few weeks for several years. 

 

Scam alert! The Boerne Police Department has recently received calls from community members reporting a scam involving someone pretending to be a Boerne Police Department officer. The caller claims the person has missed jury duty, is facing arrest, and will be taken to jail unless they pay money immediately. Remember that Boerne PD will  never ask for money over the phone-please don’t give these scammers any information and hang up as soon as possible. 

 

And if you’d rather spend Friday night outdoors, Boerne Parks and Recreation hosts Yoga in the Park from 6 until 7 tonight.

The Cibolo also hosts an adult night hike beginning at 8, exploring the trails and wildlife after dark.

The Pipe Creek Community Association has joined a myriad of other advocates urging TxDOT to speed up enhancements to Highway 46. They unanimously adopted a resolution over the weekend supporting the acceleration of the funded 46 West safety project-the Bandera Independent School District also adopted a resolution last week to accomplish the same goal. Safety Advocates include the Bandera and Kendall County Commissioners Courts, Boerne ISD trustees and the BEC Board. 


The Cibolo Center for Conservation announced that access to Cibolo Creek and Cooper’s Crossing is open. In the meantime, the Narrows Trail and a few sections of other trails are still closed due to remaining hazards and restoration. 

The Cibolo hosts the final installment of its Chocolate Experience tonight at Herff Farm.  You will learn from chocolatier Chef Sidney Hill and make your own confections from 6:30 until 8.

 

Kendall County 4-H hosts an information night this evening from 5 until 7 at the AgriLife Extension office on Rosewood.

Families can learn about 4-H projects and activities and meet local members and volunteers.

They’re also collecting school supplies for the Stock the Schoolhouse community service project.

The matchup is officially set for Friday- Boerne Little League earned a bye, but they will play Soundview after they defeated Phenix City from Alabama, 2-0. Soundview vs Boerne… and the game will begin at 2pm…

Football scrimmages also continue tonight before the real games begin next week… Boerne High will be at home hosting Pieper, and Champion will be in San Antonio to play Churchill. Comfort will host Luling tonight in their final scrimmage… but for Boerne Geneva, the season officially begins tonight. They’re in Hallettsville to play Sacred Heart tonight at 7 as TAPPS non-district play begins. 

And teeing off this morning is the BMW Championship from St. Louis… Scottie Scheffler is the defending champ from 2025… he is the best men’s golfer at the moment… he is chasing the repeat.
