Headlines/5A Semi Finalists/Texas VS Chiefs/Cowboys VS Tamps
So this weekend officially ended the high school football season… hard to believe. And a familiar opponent to especially Champion fans- the Smithson Valley Rangers, won the 5A state title… hats off to them and Coach Larry Hill as they were the only San Antonio team to head to Arlington. Both of the now 5A schools here in Boerne had interesting seasons, of course with the Greyhounds making history as 5A semifinalists… many of those Greyhound players received some honors, including 4 who received superlatives for outstanding efforts… but there’s too many of them to list! The Texans played on Saturday… and lost to the Chiefs, 27-19… and something you never want to see… Texans star Tank Dell had a gruesome knee injury off a passing play that sent him to the hospital in Kansas City. Reports said he stayed there overnight into Sunday.
The Cowboys played Tampa… they won 26-24, but it really doesn’t matter considering it was announced Dallas was eliminated from potential playoff contention after the results of earlier games in the day.
In the college football playoff… The UT Longhorns are moving on after beating Clemson, 38-24 Saturday. Next, they will play Arizona St. on New Year’s Day. The other matchups left in the bracket are Penn State and Boise State, Ohio State vs Oregon, and Notre Dame against Georgia.
And UTSA is playing in the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Coastal Carolina today… kickoff will be at 10 this morning.
