With a win Tuesday night, Boerne Baseball is your 4A District 27 Champion! Now Geoff Curtin and his boys will head to the playoffs on a very positive note.

Geneva has some talented runners participating in the TAPPS regional qualifiers today at Matador Stadium in Seguin. 

Jordan Smith of Greyhound Golf has earned 2nd-team academic all-state, and Ava Slay of Charger soccer has earned the TASCO 1st Team All-Region award. The TASCO is also recognizing Coach Strong of the Greyhound soccer team for the 4A Region 4 Coach of the Year. 

Tomorrow night here on Boerne Radio - The Greyhound girls softball team begins their playoff run with a doubleheader vs Cuero - Game 1 is at 6pm Game 2 right after at 8pm - pregame with Mark Kusenberger will start at 5:45pm here on 103.9FM, BoerneRadio.com, and the Boerne Radio App.

As heard here on Boerne Radio… The Champion Chargers hosted the Hays Hawks in game 1 of the 5A bi-district championship. Champion earned 8 runs on 8 hits, and also had 3 errors and stranded 8 runners to beat Hays 8-4, due in part to players like Aiden Smith who had a monster game. Game 2 is tonight at 6:45- listen live from Hays here on Boerne Radio, the app, and at BoerneRadio.com.

The Greyhounds went extras in San Antonio as they faced the Kennedy Rockets- Greyhounds had some hits early on but couldn’t cash in. We’re tied at 1 after 7, so guess what that means?- extra innings. With the bases loaded in the 8th, Boerne is gifted a run off a walk, and held on in the bottom of the 8th… And then good night, 2-1, Boerne takes the one game lead as now they play Kennedy at home tonight at 7.

And some special Boerne Radio Friendly Birthday’s today…born on this date in 1903 - Bing Crosby - in 1919 Pete Seeger - in 1933 James Brown plus Frankie Valli of the Four Seasons turns 90 and Austin resident Christopher Cross is 73 today…all of these artists’ music lives on…on Boerne Radio… And even tho’ she’s not known as a singer - she was loved by generations - she lived her last days in Boerne…  Born on this date in 1926 - the late great Ann B. Davis of Brady Bunch fame as Alice.

Yesterday at the Center was the Mayor Prayer Breakfast for the National Day of Prayer where over 100 gathered and broke tortillas with potatoes and beans from Bill Millers.

It was the first Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast with Mayor Frank Ritchie and the first one in Boerne since well before COVID.  Mayor Ritchie said it’s a pretty big deal that with the state of the union, anything we can do as community leaders to bring our city together is a ripple effect for our state and country.

At Noon the official National Day of Prayer event in the Main Plaza started in the rain as another 100 faithful arrived and heard proclamations and prayers from other community leaders including State Rep Ellen Troxclair.

Besides tomorrow being the very important Election Day, and besides tomorrow being May the 4 and the world famous Star Wars Night at The Richter which by the way my  wife and I will be at,  tomorrow is also Lemonade Day here in Boerne - another great reason to come downtown with a pocket full of 1 dollar bills and sample as many cups of lemonade from 75 kid entrepreneurs at their decorated stands wall to wall on the Hill Country Mile on Main Street.  A new Youth Entrepreneur of the Year will be chosen when the event ends at 2pm…booths open at 11.

Geneva softball wins BIG last night against Bay Area Christian. The Eagles were down 9-6 late in the game, I don’t think anyone would’ve predicted the final score was 22-14.
