Headlines: Geneva teams close out district play / Chargers and Greyhounds continue district play Tuesday / Two PGA tournaments this weekend

We’ll start at the diamond with Geneva teams because they closed out their seasons yesterday with district games. Geneva softball takes a tough 9-0 loss against Corpus Christi Incarnate Word but it won’t matter, they’re still going to the playoffs. Two games on the schedule for Geneva baseball yesterday, both against CC Incarnate Word. Geneva sweeps on the day winning 13-3 in game one, then 12-2 in game 2 and they claim the district championship as a result. Now we play the waiting game for playoff seeding, but we should know very soon.

Now let’s hop to Champion - The Chargers keep rolling as well. Big win for softball as they defeated Wagner by a 19-run deficit, 20-1 the final. The baseball team saw a rare no-hitter by AJ Grizzafi… listen to this stat line: 7 IP, 1 walk the entire game, but no earned bases, oh, and he also had 10 strikeouts. Champion beats Wagner 5-0 for a huge district win. 

Now to Boerne High School where the Greyhound baseball squad was taking no prisoners either. Their date was with Pieper, as they prevailed 11-1. The softball team was on the other side unfortunately as they lost 16-4 to the Warriors. 

We have just a few games left as the season winds down.

There will be not one but two PGA competitions this weekend- the RBC Heritage will tee off tomorrow with a $20,000,000 purse at stake. Scottie Scheffler won the tournament last year. Some golfers will be in the Dominican Republic at the Corales Puntacana Championship with a $4,000,000 purse, but both tournaments are worth some valuable FedexCup points for these golfers.
