It’s Wednesday, October 8th.
And it was on this date in 1965 that Yesterday by the Beatles hits #1 on the Billboard list. According to the Guiness Book of World Records it’s the most covered song of all time with over 3000 versions recorded. Some of those artists include Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and Tammy Wynette.
I’m Baron Wiley.
The Kendall County Office of Emergency Management has issued a local disaster declaration and outdoor burning ban that went into effect at midnight. Fire Marshal Brady Constantine said the county’s burn index number yesterday was 572 up from 560 3 days ago and 600 is the tipping point for severe drought. In the last few days Kendall County had 4 wildfires break out. The burn ban will be effective for 7 days unless extended by the Kendall County Commissioner's Court. All residents are asked to refrain from burning outside or participate in activities that could result in sparks.
Some City of Boerne Utilities customers will see changes to their monthly utility bills following recent rate adjustments approved by the City Council. The updates include increases to water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services, with a 7 percent base rate increase for all water customers effective October 1st. In order to help save on monthly costs, the Council has implemented water conservation rebates to encourage saving water, which will also in turn lower costs. Currently Boerne Utility Customers have water rates 28.5% lower than similarly sized Texas communities.
The Hill County Pregnancy Care Center is in desperate need of new fall and winter items as temperatures drop…eventually. The boutique allows clients to shop for their little ones at no cost, and to keep things stocked they rely on the community. Currently they are looking for boy and girls clothing sizes 9m to 5T and toddler shoes of all sizes.
And happy birthday to Boerne Radio Listener - Erin Pepper Burrows!
