And born on this date 104 years ago today icon Judy Garland, country singer Lee Brice is 47, and Kim Deal from the Breeders and the Pixies is 65.  And in the Boerne Radio Birthday Club are Joe Hooter, Dianna Kaiser, Natalie Martinkus, Tonya Whatley, and my friend and neighbor Melanie Bostic.  If you know any of these fine folks tell them you heard it was their birthday on Boerne Radio.

Last night the Boerne Star broke the news that former attorney Karen Hogan was sentenced to 20 years in prison for crimes related to money taken from six children who lost their parents in a 2021 murder-suicide. At the time, the oldest child, who is special needs, was 15, and the youngest was 4. Hogan was the attorney appointed by the probate court as the temporary administrator of the estate, but improperly took and misused funds intended for the children. She pled guilty to two felony charges, one for the misapplication of financial property, and the other for exploitation of child, elderly or disabled person. 

The results for this weekends Boerne Family Fishing Tournament have been reeled in. The 20th annual competition has a whopping 118 young anglers come out and compete, each fighting for an award in multiple categories, including longest bass, largest perch, most fish and biggest “other” fish. In total, 170 fish were caught from the lake, many kids went home with awards. 

And now Boerne Parks and Rec is looking forward to the 4th of July Celebration and it was announced at the City Council Meeting last night that Boerne Radio 103.9FM will help simulcast the patriotic music on Boerne Radio for those out of earshot of the fireworks.

Another big honor was given this weekend to our friend Bill Shannon at Wild Birds Unlimited. During the WBU Leadership Conference in Pittsburg, Bill was awarded Store Manager of the Year, and was specifically recognized for his dedication and sales excellence. 

For our friends in Fair Oaks Ranch, Spectrum will be conducting alternating lane closures on Dietz Elkhorn starting today through Friday. Two-way traffic will be maintained, and no detours are planned, although you should expect minor delays.
