It’s Wednesday, August 13th. 

Born on this date in 1951 was Canadian musician Dan Fogelberg, whose hits include “Leader of the Band,” a tribute to his father, and the post-Christmas staple “Same Old Lang Syne” based on his own true story.

Last night was the Boerne City Council Meeting - it was a full house…

First u,p before the prayer and pledge - the PFC Financial Report was reviewed with highlights being a motion for the City of Boerne to use or transfer funds to support the development of $500,000 for a sidewalk project along the Old No. 9, $1Mil for downtown parking, and $1.5Mil Waterworks Terrace Project and Main Plaza.

A fun announcement came from the City of Boerne Utilities, who were recognized by the American Public Gas Association, which presented them with a Safety Award. Boerne Utilities with 58240 hours with zero accidents or injuries.  The City of Boerne was the only city in Texas to earn this award!  

After that, it was time for Public Comments and thus the full house…and the hot topic was the coming Buc-ee’s on I-10…

The concern was that the Buc-ee’s project doesn’t meet the city’s code of dark skies lighting and signage, and the resources needed to cover a 90 to 100 gas pump area, including fire,  EMT, police, and sanitation services, to their unlimited growth.  It was noted that the current city council was not the council when Buc-ee’s first came to the table.
