It’s Tuesday May 5th
Accordion to my sources, in queso you didn’t know it’s Cinco De Mayo… celebrating Mexico’s independence from France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. They should have kept their bread recipe, but we’ll take the tortillas.
And celebrating some big birthdays in Boerne include Debbie Payne, Renee Kocian with Hill Country Land Locators, Jack Bridges, and Teaching Minister at Boerne Church of Christ - Chris Palmer, who you hear every Sunday at 11 here on Boerne Radio.
I’m Baron Wiley.
Boerne ISD has recognized its top graduating seniors from both Boerne High School and Champion High School, honoring their academic achievement and dedication. We don’t have time to read their full names, but I’ll try to say their first names as fast as I can in no particular order. From Boerne its Austin, Blythe, Cadence, Lila, Molly, Matthew, Olivia, Sara, Sydney, and Taylor.
From Champion it’s Addison, Avery, Ethan, Hannah, Ingrid, Isabella, Joseph, Julie, Lauren, and Sophia.
Actually, that seemed like it was in alphabetical order.
Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft praised the students for their hard work and well-rounded success, noting their experience in internships, mentorships, and career training. To read the full names and see what smart seniors look like, see them on the Boerne Radio Facebook Page and on our news blog at boerneradio.com.
Graduation ceremonies will be held at Boerne ISD Stadium—Champion High School on May 21st at 8 p.m., and Boerne High will celebrate on May 22nd.
Ricky Gleason and Incumbent Judge Shane Stolarczyk are facing off tomorrow in the May 26th runoff race for Kendall County Judge. It happens at the Lobby Coffee Shop in Comfort starting at 6.
Boerne Radio received a late-night email to news@boerneradio.com – and we learned about a Boerne-area student making waves on the national stage. Patricio Mayoral is currently sitting in second place nationwide in the Junior Ranger National Competition.
9 year old Patricio says he loves nature because it brings him peace and lets his imagination run free. Whether he’s climbing trees, hiking trails, or searching for bugs and wildflowers, the outdoors is where he feels most at home.
The final winner is decided by community support, and Patricio needs your vote as he stands to win $20,000 and appear in the Ranger Rick Magazine. Daily voting is free and also helps support the National Wildlife Federation. Voting ends on Thursday at 5pm Texas time. We have the link to vote in our news blog at boerneradio.com and on our Boerne Radio Facebook page - https://jr-ranger.org/2026/patricio-598f
