If you have Houston roots you know about Mattress Mack - besides running his successful furniture store, he’s well known for giving back when Harvey hit, when Imelda rose, and Hurricane Beryl hit Houston in 2024…well now he’s coming to the Hill Country this Saturday - more specifically the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department with a ton of mattress for first responders, and our families that live along the Gaudalupe who lost a lot in our own flood back in July.
Here’s Disaster Relief Coordinator in Kerrville - Sarah Amar with how you can help.

For first responders there will be a special line just for you if you’re in need of a new mattress. This Friday Boerne ISD hosts it’s annual Cookies, Cocoa, & Toy Drive in the Boerne Academy Cafeteria. Santa will be in the house, there will be students performing all day - choral, strings, bands….all live music from our award-winning Boerne ISD music departments. Drop off your toys for the Blue Santa programs from 8:30 to 4pm at 235 Lowmann Street. By the way Happy birthday to Yvette Reyna - the Executive Director of Boerne Education Foundation and Boerne ISD Community Partnerships.
It’s time of year again when the Natural Resources Office, Fire and Emergency Services conduct a prescribed burn at Camp Bullis. If you live around Fair Oaks and Dominion, do not panic. The project started yesterday and will go to the 19th from 10am to 6pm…weather permitting. By burning off dead growth and thick brush now, officials hope to reduce the fuel that could feed a dangerous wildfire in the future.
Is the 2nd week of the month so that means its Bulky Item and brush collection week - your trash day is the day to put out the big stuff too big for the can. If it's brush make sure it’s chopped up and tied up.
