It’s Thursday October 9th. 

The Washington Monument opened to the public on this day in 1888, 40 years after the beginning of construction. The cornerstone was laid on July 4th of 1848, and featured President Polk, Eliza Hamilton, and future presidents Lincoln, Buchanan and Johnson, amongst 20,000 others.  When the monument was finally complete, it was 555 feet tall, making it the tallest building in the world at the time.

Boerne ISD was recently reviewed by a third party to assess its financial efficiency compared to other districts in the state. They found that the operating funds from last year totaled almost $9,000 per student. BISD is one of only 31 districts to receive 6 straight-A ratings from the Texas Education Agency.

Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department is asking for your help in identifying an individual connected to thefts in the area. The Criminal Investigations Division has released video footage from a security camera showing the man approach a vehicle, attempt to open the door and then walk away.
