And it’s National Weatherperson’s Day...honoring the birthday of John Jeffries, born on this day in 1744. Dr. Jeffries, a scientist, and a surgeon, is considered to be one of America’s first weather observers. He kept weather records from 1774 to 1816. But he’s no Jacques F. DuBose.
Geneva School of Boerne has named Elle Chalmers as its 2026 valedictorian and Abigail Bussey and Sopris Oglesby as co-salutatorians. The three seniors will deliver addresses at Geneva’s commencement exercises in May.
The City of Boerne’s Patrick Heath Public Library has once again been honored with the 2025 Achievement of Library Excellence Award by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. Only 20% of libraries were recognized across the state. The library averages nearly 650 programs every year and welcomed more than 197,000 visitors in 2025.
And the eighth and final flyover in the I-10, 1604 interchange opened at 5 a.m. this morning. The new ramp will connect drivers from Loop 1604 westbound to I-10 westbound towards Boerne, marking a major milestone in the construction project. The interchange project is now 70% complete and on track to be completed by 2027.
