It’s Thursday April 9th. 

 

Today is National Winston Churchill Day - April 9th commemorates the day he was merited an honorary citizen of the United States in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy. 

And some Boerne Birthday shoutouts - 

Pastor Eric Waters at St. John Lutheran - Happy Birthday! Michelle Luckett out at the Boenre Backyard, Matthew Hoke, Christie Streicher, Howard Wallace, George Arnold, and Claire O’Brien who does great work with the Hill Country Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

 

A Boerne ISD School bus was involved in an accident yesterday morning on the 100 block of Allen Road and if you know the road it’s hilly….why is that AD Stan Leech?

Only three people were on the bus, two students and the driver, but everyone was wearing seatbelts and there were no injurys.   T

 

As America hits 250 this year, the YMCA is celebrating their 150 year commitment to Uniting Generations and tomorrow at the Boerne Family YMCA they are celebrating some upgrades with a chamber ribbon cutting at 11:00.

Shannon said Mayor Ritchie will also be there to help, and heads up summer is coming so the time to sign up the kids and grandkids for a YMCA Day Camp experience is now for the Boerne Family YMCA on Adler Road. 

 

And tonight is Diva Night hosted by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce on the Hill Country Mile with special deals for shopping, drawings, and lovely beverages…35 shops and restaurants participating.  Check in at either Gunpowder and Cabernet or in Main Plaza.  The fun starts at 5 and goes to 9.

 

Also don’t forget the Battle of the Badges is on for the Boerne Police Department, with proceeds supporting Love Kendall County Kids. Every $100 gets you a vote, and whichever Officer accumulates the most votes will get pied with a special treat from our friends over at Tootie Pie. Voting is open now and ends tomorrow.  Saturday will be the pie thrown down in Main Plaza at 4:30.
