It’s Friday September 27th. 

Born on this date in 1722 was American Revolutionary and leader of the Boston Tea Party Samuel Adams. He and his second cousin John were both signers of the Declaration of Independence, with John being one of only two signers to eventually become President. Although Sam didn’t become Commander in Chief, he did serve as the Massachusetts Governor from 1794 to 1797, and can be served out of the tap at many local Boerne stops.

All three Boerne Middle Schools are participating in the Trailblazer Speaker Series in which students will have an opportunity to hear from local leaders and visionaries. Their first meeting was yesterday morning where they heard from Emma Faye Rudkin, who is the Executive Director and Founder of Aid the Silent. Her nonprofit works to assist the deaf and hard of hearing community with access to resources, and they have already helped 438 people this year improve their health and individual growth. 

Tomorrow the Cibolo Center for Conservation will be holding their first meeting for the Trailblazers youth group.  The program is for young people ages 13-18 interested in environmental conservation. They will explore volunteer opportunities, career paths, public speaking, and be in a supportive community of like-minded individuals. Meetings will be held every other Saturday from 10 to noon, and participants can receive up to 10 hours of community service this semester. You can still sign up at cibolo.link/blazers. 

And looking ahead, the Comfort Golden Age Center is hosting a Senior Singles Luncheon on October 4th at 1 pm. Put on your Sunday best next Friday and mingle at the Country Diner where you will enjoy a delicious meal.  You can RSVP now by calling 830-995-3032.
