It’s Wednesday September 13th.
Scooby-Doo scurries onto the screen for the first time on this date in 1969. The series “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” was created by Hanna-Barbera productions, and featured Radio Legend Casey Kasum as the voice of Shaggy. Another fun fact, the original voice of Fred, 77 year old Frank Welker, still voices him to this day.

Yesterday morning in the City Hall Chambers Mayor Frank Ritchie has announced that September is Suicide Prevention Month in Boerne. Boerne’s Hill Country Family Services leads the way in starting the conversation by hosting events like Seize the Awkward, and creating a position in the HCFS led by Bryce Boddy - the Senior Director of Behavioral Health. There is no shame in asking for help, and there are trained professionals and counselors available. One week from tonight is the next Seize the Awkward event with a focus on Drug and Substance Abuse Awareness geared towards teens and young adults… There will be free pizza, Iced Tea and encouraging information from the special speakers.
And on the very same day, District 4 City Councilman Bryce Boddy’s resignation was accepted by City Council in a 5-0 vote, as Bryce and his family have moved to Waring. The city charter says City Council has 30 days to fill that vacant seat with a qualified person and will stay for the rest of term which ends in 2025.
Councilman Bryce Boddy has some advice for the next council person.

This past Saturday was the Back The Badge Trail 5k, and was open to all ages. However, one young runner made her mark on the trail. 6th grader Kaylee Tierney from Boerne Middle School South won Overall Fastest Female! If this indicates anything about her skill, we might see her under 5 rings in the future.
This evening at 6 pm is the 2023 College, Career and Military Fair at Champion High. The transition after high school can be an intimidating one, so the fair gives students an opportunity to talk to reps about what life might look like. If you can’t make the fair tonight, there will be another one on November 7th.
