It’s Monday October 27th.

The Rolling Stones made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show on this date in 1964.  And did you make it to the Paul McCartney Show at the Alamodome last Saturday.  It was a 35 song setlist, and at the end of Get Back Paul invited a couple up on stage that had a sign that said “marry us, Paul”  where the man got on one knee to propose…so mission accomplished, but then it was revealed they were already married…the wedding was that day.

If you missed the weekend edition of the Boerne Star, here are some of the highlights. Residents in Comfort have made it clear to their City Council that they do not appreciate attempts to bring battery energy storage systems to their town. Officials, including Commissioners Jeff Holt and Brady Constantine, warned that lithium-based storage sites could pose major fire risks and strain the area’s volunteer fire department, which lacks resources to handle prolonged battery fires that can burn for days. With energy storage projected to become a $178 billion industry in Texas, residents fear Comfort could become an unsafe testing ground for poorly regulated projects. Speakers urged the community to stay informed and push for stricter oversight before any facilities are approved.

The latest class selected for induction into the Boerne ISD Athletic Hall of Honor was recognized last Friday. Two doubles teams, both state champs, one individual tennis player, along with the 2008-09-10 tennis teams from Boerne Champion were recognized, while Dr. Richard Holcomb received the Bill Canavan Memorial Benefactor Award.

Boerne Radio is giving away pairs of tickets to 3 events all happening this Saturday. There’s the Nile Rogers and Chic concert at the Tobin, the benefit concert for The Center Featuring William Beckmann who was in Boerne last when he opened for George Strait, and then the Grape Gathering at Ironwood Events on the Von Erich Ranch.  Register to win at BoerneRadio.com.
