It’s Friday May 9th. 

And it was on this date in 1865 that President Andrew Johnson issued a proclamation declaring armed resistance in the South is virtually at an end.  This is the commonly accepted end date of the American Civil War.

Hey if you look behind the old Kendall County Jail from Blanco, you’ll see some wonky barricades protecting a small space along a new path of newly buried powerlines from the IT building  to the power center/ generator next to the old county courthouse.  Turns out when they were digging the trench they discovered a well.

Congratulations to Joanna Merrill, she is the City of Fair Oaks Ranch’s Director of Human Resources and Communications, for being awarded the Texas Municipal Human Resources Association Lone or Almost aLone Ranger of the Year!  She’s a rock star…she helped launch the Police Cadet program, overhauled outdated policies, revamped the City’s website, and lead a citywide compensation study.  Congratulations Joanna Merrill.

Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center still needs volunteers for their Flower Delivery fundraiser that kicks off today for Mother’s Day in their partnership with The Flower Shop and An Empty Vase.  The organization needs drivers for both today and tomorrow, and the opportunity is an easy way to get volunteer hours. You only need to drive for 60 to 90 minutes, and you can bring family or friends to assist you.
