Headlines:  Gladys Knight Turns 80 / Major Power Outage in Welfare From Storm / New Patio At Lost Oak Cellars Cuts The Ribbon on Thursday / Texas Heritage Bank Donates $5000 to Hill Country Family Services In Matching Gift Campaign.  Today’s Goal is $1000 – www.HCFSTX.org

It’s Tuesday May 27th.

And some scary villains  born on this date – Christopher Lee who played Dracula and Frankenstein, and even parts in Lord of the Rings and Star Wars  - he was born in 1922.  Vincent Price was born in 1911,   he played Egghead in the Batman TV Show, and the beautiful Lee Meriwether was also born on this date in 1935 – and while she was Miss America in 1955, she was also a villain on the same Batman show as she played Cat-woman – she turns 90 today.

So how did you do last night…this radio station saw hail, big winds, heavy rain as we were under a flash flood watch until 1am last night…and yes a power failure that took us off the air as Bandera Electric Coop reported that 2 3-phase poles went down more specifically in the Welfare area…so besides setting those poles, new cable was also rolled out which means those first responders worked all night long so that you could hear this newscast today.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend - the creek is full again, the fallen were honored at Veterans Plaza, The Boerne Cemetery, and in front of the Black Rifle.  We’re back in the swing today… The Boerne Chamber of Commerce is hosting 4 ribbon cuttings this week. Today it’s for grand opening of Honey Layne Salon and Spa and Westerly Air. On Thursday, they will host a ribbon cutting for Buck and Doe’s Mercantile at 11:30, and then celebrate the opening of the new patio at Lost Oak Cellars at 1:30.

Yesterday we announced a $5000 donation from Texas Heritage Bank was made in our matching gift campaign for Hill Country Family Services - they received a matching challenge from the Kronkowski Foundation - and if Boerne Radio can help them raise $50,000 then they will get another 50 - so with Texas Heritage Bank we want to try to match their gift - we can do it $100 at a time, or $500 or if you’ve really been blessed can you do $1000.  If i need to tell you why then you can trust me that Hill Country Family Services does things in Boerne and the Hill Country that you have no idea - when the Sheriff’s Office gets a call for a suicide or a tramatic experience for a family, they call Hill Country Family Services to have a counselor on hand for grieving family members.

When it’s not a lightning storm that causes the power to go out, Hill Country Family Services have helped many a family keep the power on by paying that bill…

They don’t say no when when a crisis happens in Boerne.

Hop on to there website right now - HCFSTX.org - that’s HCFSTX.org for Hill Country Family Services - make your best gift now in our first goal to match Texas Heritage Banks gift…and we’ll celebrate together right here on Boenre Radio.

By the way…here’s a quick shout out to a Champion High School Student named Emily who hosted her own food drive for Hill Country Family Services and collected 230 pounds of gluten free items for their Corner Cupboard pantry
