Headlines:  Champion High School’s Welding Program Partners with HOLT CAT / Chamber Ribbon Cuttings Include Chicago Title, Community Impact Boerne, R. Rustin Cabinets, Bubble Tea Factory, and Genesis Counseling Center / Government Teacher Kim Grosenbacher Earns Highest Honor from Kendall Mas

It’s Tuesday May 20th.

It was on this date in 1891 that Thomas Edison publicly displayed the kinetoscope, the world’s first motion picture capture and viewer system. The viewer allowed one person at a time to view the film through a peephole window. And now we watch the world go by on our phones.

It’s a pretty proud day over at Champion High School and the Welding Shop.  Something is happening that has never happened for any Texas High School and a big win for the trades program.  HOLT CAT - the largest Caterpillar equipment dealer in the US is now an official partner in offering a Level 1 Holt Weld Certification from the American Welding Society.  These 35 Champion Seniors now can leave High school making more than 90% of college graduates thanks to the Career and Technical Education programs.  This all happens on the heels of Governor Greg Abbott’s emergency order highlighting the importance of CTE…and if you remember last year, this same welding class surprised Governor Rick Perry when they restored his late father’s truck.  You do good things, and good things happen.  Congrats to the Champion Welding Lab, and Mr. Dorman Vick and great thanks again to HOLT CAT.

The Boerne Chamber of Commerce is back in full swing with ribbon cuttings with Chicago Title and their new location on Herff Road and Community Impact Boerne in Fair Oaks Ranch. On Thursday, R. Rustin Cabinets and Joinery cuts the ribbon at their location on Upper Cibolo Road, and then at 1:30 it’s the grand re-opening of the Bubble Tea Factory…but wait there’s more…on Friday, the Texas Roadhouse celebrates their 3rd anniversary, and our dear friends at Genesis Counseling Center are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month.  Be at their Woods of Boerne Blvd location at 1:30.

Kim Grosenbacher was recently awarded the Mirabeau B. Lamar Medal of Excellence in Education by Kendall Masonic Lodge, which is the highest honor the Masons give to Texas Educators. The Government Teacher was described by a former student as dedicated to serving students, standing firm in her principles and leading with Wisdom, Grit and Heart.

Crews began construction on the new Gateway Feature Project in Fair Oaks Ranch yesterday. The project is at the Fair Oaks Parkway and Leslie Pfeiffer intersection and should take about 4 months to complete. Crews will build the monument with the hope that it will greet everyone with a look and feel unique to Fair Oaks Ranch.
