Headlines: Jimmy Stewart Born On This Date in 1908 / BISD Aquatics Center Sent To Complete On 5/28 / HC Early Learning Center Opens In Thrive Building / Hill Country Family Services Is Boerne Radio Nonprofit Of The Month: Give Today!
It’s Monday May 19th.
And born on this date in 1908 - the star of It’s A Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, and Harvey - American Oscar Winner Jimmy Stewart. James Stewart was one of the first major celebrities to join the US Armed Forces after the outbreak of World War II. He flew combat missions over Germany and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.
A Couple of headlines from Boerne Star this past weekend, after 9 months of delays, The Boerne ISD Aquatics Center is set to be completed by May 28th.
And in the same building that Thrive throve until it ended with no warning back in February, a new business is in there now called Hill Country Early Learning Center, a new day care facility for children 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Weather-wise it’ll be a broken record all week…lows in the upper 60s and highs in the low 90s with no real chance for rain until next week. It was nice to see the Cibolo Creek Dam with water right up to the lip after the rain…and it’s already down a foot.
Well Boerne Radio is proud to officially partner with Hill Country Family Services with this PSA - they are our Nonprofit of the month…and let me remind you what Hill Country Family Services do in Boerne…
When the freeze happens, they are the ones that gets the heaters, and the food, and the clothes and takes care of the least of these.
When Thanksgiving happens, they help get over 400 turkeys and fixings to families…also known as the least of these…
The Back-to-School Rally that happens every year getting school supplies for the least of these happens thanks to Hill Country Family Services…
And then there’s a ton of stuff you don’t know about…like when a crisis happens in Kendall County and I have a 1000 examples…
The family that gets flooded out of their home on Christmas…they get it fixed, and Christmas happens.
A family of 10 has their washing machine go kaput - Hill Country Family Services buys them a new washing machine…
The lights are about to get turned off - Hill Country Family Services pays the pill…but they don’t…you’re the one that helps…
Well, they have received a matching challenge grant for $100,000 - and so they reached out to their database and were able to raise $50000…and we said lets see if we can’t help you raise the other 50 from Boerne Radio Listeners –
And here’s what they have in mind to do with the money…they are taking on the huge mountain of mental health issues in Kendall County with free counseling, and what they need is a Spanish speaking counselor on staff.
They have a vision to purchase a Produce Patrol Van or Truck - to deliver food for those that can’t make it to the food bank.
And maybe even another bus that runs up and down main street all day but that’s down the line…
Bottom line we accept the challenge - we’re going to help them raise that next $50,000 - and it starts today…can you make a one time gift of $50, or $100…or if you really love Boerne and Boerne radio like you say you do…can you give $1000 to Hill Country Family Services right now! Just hit the donate tab at the Hill Country Family Services website which is it’s initials…HCFSTX.org. That’s HCFSTX.org –
God bless you! Give now.
