And by 28 Songs Brewhouse and Kitchen - that’s where we’ll be from 4 to 6 today for our Boost Boerne Business Networking event - with thanks to Olde Town Plumbing, Realtor Nova Stevenson and Clearview Bookkeeping  - and special thanks to Performance Food Service who’s bringing the chicken wings.

It’s Thursday May 15th.

And back in 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and it’s still National Police Week. If we don’t say it every day, thank you to our Boerne Police Department, and our Kendall County Sheriff's Office.  We also remember our heroes in Law enforcement who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty - Sheriff Edge in 1948,  Sheriff Kuebel in 1971, Trooper Kurt David Knapp in 2004,  Community Supervision Officer Russell Dean Salazar in 2019, and Deputy Carlos Ramirez in 2019.

Yesterday morning at approximately 10am there was a fuel tank explosion at Camp Stanley, off of Ralph Fair Road. A US Army Joint Munitions Command spokesperson confirmed the free-standing fuel tank exploded and injured Andrew Libby who was immediately taken to the hospital where he later died. The incident is currently under investigation. The spokesperson said “We deeply regret the loss of life that occurred today” and that safety remains a top priority for its employees and the community.  Steps will be taken to help prevent future incidents.

In the Midweek edition of the Boerne Star, Jeff Flinn reported on the Boerne ISD Board of Trustee’s meeting where it was decided a third high school would not be necessary for at least another 10 years, and there was talk of renovating Boerne Middle School North. Facilities planning committees hinted at reusing a building for a Career and Technical Education Center.

And for our Fair Oaks listeners, the City didn’t quite complete micro seal treatment on Fair Oaks Parkway, so don’t be surprised by traffic and continued delays. They will most likely finish the project today, but be careful if you go through the area.
