A Couple of Boerne Radio Artists with birthdays today. Reginal Dwight was born on this date in 1947…making Elton John 78 today.  And the late Aretha Franklin - the queen of soul was born on this date in 1942.

Congratulations to Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft, she was named Distinguished Educator of the Year by Sam Houston State.  Dr. Craft earned her Master of Education in Educational Administration and Doctorate of Education from the institution. She will attend a gala with her family on Saturday at the University, which will honor five exceptional alumni who spark change and inspire growth.

The Boerne Chamber has a busy week ahead of them with 5 ribbon cuttings on the docket. Today they are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Camp Agave Texas Grief Recovery at 1:30, and tomorrow will be celebrating the Kendall with an open house at 4. On Thursday there are two ribbon cuttings, one for Hill Country Toastmasters at 9:30 and the other to celebrate PAX Financial and Texas Heritage Bank’s new collaboration at 11:30. Finally, on Friday there will be a ribbon cutting and block party at 4:30 to kick off the Das Festival of Kendall! 

Fair Oaks Ranch was ranked the 16th safest City in the Loan Star State by Safewise, jumping up 18 spots from last year. It is also the only city in the Hill Country to be in the top 20. So who’s #1? Taking the gold is San Elizario, a city with a little over 10,000 people just outside of El Paso. The town boasts a violent crime rate of only .1 per 1,000 residents; Fair Oaks Ranch is right behind them with only .3 per 1,000. Boerne has a rate of .87, which is much lower than the national average of 4 per 1,000.
